Library & Research Center Experience

Choose the option that you and your group would prefer:

Show & Tell: An hour-long tour/talk customized to your group, highlighting the Missouri History Museum collections

  • 5–10 minutes: General architectural talk about building’s history
  • 50 minutes: Show & tell of items from the library and archival collections, with possible topics including:
  1. Interesting/amusing documents from the library and archives
  2. 1904 World’s Fair
  3. St. Louis history through maps
  4. Focus on specific industries (brewing, fashion, fur trade)
  5. Can request a topic of interest, if our collections support it

 

Talk and tour for researchers and/or genealogists: An hour-long introduction to the facility

  • 5 minutes: Care and handling of historic documents
  • 5 minutes: General architectural talk about building’s history
  • 50 minutes:
  1. Resources for writers and/or artists
  2. Resources for family history (mention specific ethnic groups or churches/denominations of interest)
  3. Resources for house/neighborhood history (mention any specific neighborhood, county, or municipality)

 

All programs are subject to availability and offered Monday through Friday between 9am and 11:30am in the Margaret Blanke Grigg Reading Room of the Library and Research Center. Reservations must be requested at least four weeks in advance.

The charge is $3 per person, per program.
