Self-Guided Gallery Exploration

Self-guided visits begin with a brief introduction and orientation by our education staff; afterward, they're entirely facilitated by the chaperones. Reservation policies and chaperone-ratio policies do apply to all self-guided visits. Each gallery you wish to explore must be reserved, and 1 adult is required for every 8 children.

Self-guided visits work best when:

  • groups are small
  • chaperones have prepared activities
  • chaperones have discussed expectations with children

Ages: All

Group Size: Any group of 10 or more is welcome to make a reservation, however, the maximum number of children per time slot depends on the galleries requested.

Chaperone Requirement: 1 adult chaperone per 8 children

Price: Free

Galleries Visited: Self-guided visits are available in all of our continuing and special exhibitions, provided another group hasn't already booked that space for a guided program.

Please note: If you're reserving a guided program and you'd like your group to explore other galleries before or after your program, you must reserve those galleries for a self-guided visit.
