Early Childhood Program: Steaming Through the History Clubhouse

Dates Available: All year

Age Range: This program is designed for children ages 2–6.

Minimum Group Number: 10 children

Maximum Group Number: 40 children

Gallery Visited:   History Clubhouse

Program Duration: 75–90 minutes (divided between a classroom activity and playtime in the History Clubhouse)

Description
During this program, children will engage in a multisensory exploration of steamboats and discover the importance of the steamboat to St. Louis history. Children will hear a story about a steamboat; use their five senses to imagine what traveling on a steamboat was like; and participate in a hands-on, STEM-based experiment. Your group will also enjoy free playtime in the History Clubhouse, where we have a steamboat of our own.

Note that portions of the activities may be cut out if your group arrives late.

Program Modifications
We understand that there are many factors that may cause your bus to be late. However, due to other group reservations and the schedules of our museum educators, we can't extend the length of your visit past your reservation time. If you arrive late, we'll do our best to still deliver the program you reserved; however, modifications may be necessary depending on your arrival time. For groups that are excessively late, significant changes to your program will be necessary.
