Author Guidelines - Voices Online Magazine
Voices online magazine speaks of memory, place, commerce, families, race, neighborhoods, and art and music traditions as they pertain to St. Louis and regional cultural history. Because of its online format, there are no space limitations on word counts. However, submissions for full-length essays ideally run 2,000–4,000 words (not including sidebars). We are actively seeking oral histories, first-person accounts or biographical sketches of ordinary or famous Missourians, civil rights and African American history topics, and original poetry, photography, and literature with connections to Missouri. We encourage you to visit www.mhmvoices.org and review the current and past issues to understand the scope of our subject matter.

To submit an article for consideration, please send your manuscript by e-mail attachment or on a CD to Victoria Monks, Missouri History Museum, P.O. Box 11940, St. Louis, MO 63112-0040; vwmonks@mohistory.org. We are able to read most word processing programs, although Microsoft Word is preferred. We will return any manuscript that we do not use if you enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

In general, the editor will let you know within four weeks from the date your submission is received in the office if it will be accepted for publication. Should you have any other questions on our submissions policy, feel free to contact Victoria Monks, Editor, by mail (see address above), by telephone (314-746-4558), or by e-mail (vwmonks@mohistory.org).
