Watch filmmaker Julie Dash’s acclaimed 1991 film, Daughters of the Dust, which tells the story of a multi-generational family in the Gullah community on the Sea Islands (located off South Carolina) struggling to maintain their ancestors’ Yoruba heritage and folklore while contemplating a migration to the mainland.
