Before he built the bridge in St. Louis, James B. Eads built seven ironclads — steam-propelled warships protected by iron or steel armor plates — in 100 days, just in time to play a critical role in Grant’s successful campaign to capture Forts Henry and Donelson. Eads and Grant became warm friends and allies. Join Jerry Porter as he discusses the careers and friendships of these two 19th century icons.
