During the first three decades of the 20th century, the St. Louis Street Department generated one of the most extensive troves of images ever made of the river city. Originally created to document municipal challenges and improvements, the Street Department photographs unintentionally captured richly detailed scenes of everyday life. We've used a selection of these images to create Capturing the City, a photography-based book and exhibition that allows visitors to experience historic St. Louis in new and eye-opening ways.
Admission to this exhibition is FREE.
Organized by the Missouri History Museum.
